I've been on a "citric acid as free as possible" diet for 2-3 years now. Always noticed my very sensitive skin broke out in lumps or rashes when I ate oranges and many other foods and drinks. I also didn't feel particularly well. I can still eat/drink these things in moderation, but I take anti-histamine all year round and have noticed a huge improvement. You are right about the huge range of products containing citric acid. You have also to avoid citrus fruits, including pineapple, most jams, yoghurts and drinks and, even, spreads and other savoury items - nearly everything in the supermarket. I'd venture to say your dermatologist is as useless as a chocolate fireguard and suggest you write to him suggesting he reads up on something which has been known about for some time - that citric acid is a known allergen. Ta ta, Janet
