I have the exact same fears and suicidal ideas. The difference is that I use something I call self projected image. What I mean by this is that I project an image of myself to myself in my head so as to make myself believe that I look better than I really do.
Sound stupid? Try it. Your self confidence will come back and when people see this they will believe in you more and like you more.
The only problem, I have to say, about this is that when you do look in the mirror etc, you kinda have left yourself down and get depressed all over again.
What I find helps for mirrors (and girls) is a good wardrobe. Let me tell you, a good pair of jeans, slick shirt, and great shoes help me out a lot. Again, a problem though. Money.
Anyway - thats what I do and it seems to work two thirds of the time... Give it a try and tell me what you guys think...
